Women drawn to yoga tend to be innately flexible. Yoga feels rather easy and natural. The problem is that when we lean into that flexibility, we risk injury. And yoga injuries can be long-lasting, often occurring in soft tissue that takes a long time to repair. I design the classes of the GLOW YOGA CLUB to not just work on alignment, but teach you the HOW-TO of movements so we do yoga poses safely. That way you build strength and awareness of how you move both on the mat and in the real world.

LEARN TO MODIFY
Not all yoga poses are meant for everyone. When you have an injury or a condition, it's important to learn how to listen to your body and modify. That's when videos on YouTube just wont cut it. You need someone who knows you and can teach you what's right for whatever you have going on. The LIVE CLASSES ON ZOOM are set up so I can keep an eye on you and offer suggestions as needed. I stay in touch with each student so I can adapt the classes and you'll feel confident on the mat.

"Listen to your body" is a common catch phrase you'll hear in yoga classes. But what does that really mean? Glow Yoga classes teach you to feel your way through the movements with specific, tangible cues. So that you know exactly when to back off, and when it feels right to challenge yourself and go deeper. Somatic cueing will guide you to understand your body's natural feedback system so you can better make choices during class, reduce the risk of injury and get a whole lot more from your practice.

MEET YOUR TEACHER
Hi there! I'm Rebecca.
I really miss my old yoga class. It was my first one actually. We rolled around on a carpeted floor. There were folks of all ages. You never heard the word "arm balance" or "Lululemon".
Things changed and evolved. The yoga got harder. And thankfully I was still young and invigorated to meet the challenge. I was doing chaturunga poses and floating off the ground. I worked hard. It felt good.
But my mat was literally being shredded. And so was my body. Without the proper know-how of movement, I just dove into the fun, fancy, flow world and I just kept walking away with little injuries, some that are still with me today.
It wasn't just hard on my body. I used yoga to avoid some of the harder issues in life; wrong job, wrong home, wrong relationships. It was a band-aid for what ailed me. And eventually, the band-aid wore off and wasn't working anymore.
It was quite a while before I turned 40 that I realized there was something seriously missing from my yoga practice. Strength. Not just physically, but ...
I am now a recovering vinyasa-holic. I do yoga that feels good. I focus on HOW TO move and WHY. So that I can keep doing things I love like surfing and holding heavy binoculars peeping up at beautiful tropical birds way over head.
Rebecca Bly is a Registered Yoga Teacher and has been teaching since 2006. She trained in Vinyasa Yoga style and draws inspiration from Shiva Rea, Cyndi Lee and Tara Brach.
